Age: ~19
Canon: Final Fantasy VIII

Character History: Here
Canon Abilities: What is your character capable of doing in canon?
Gunblade Combat: Since his youth Seifer has been learning the skill of fighting with one of the rarest and most dangerous weapons in his world: a Gunblade. His personal style is one handed, facilitated by using a model that combines a thinner blade with a pistol body. This allows him to attack multiple times at speed and with quick, slashing strikes. When attacking and the blade makes contact, if time correctly, he can pull the trigger of the gun, thereby triggering a concussive round that allows it to deal more damage. Note: this does not mean that the weapon actually acts as a pistol. It is completely incapable of firing a proper bullet and of making ranged attacks. This is strictly a close combat weapon.Inventory:
Trained Mercenary: Seifer was more or less raised in a mercenary academy. As such he has been trained from a young age in multiple forms of combat (hand to hand, swords, and finally gunblades), how to work in mercenary units of various sizes, combat and infiltration tactics, and many other areas. However he's got a serious problem with authority (that seems to derive from not trusting them to do things right), so some of his training does not always go well.
Limit Break - Fire Cross: Wiki Reference Page. In Seifer's world people all have some form of innate of special magic/ability that triggers when they are in dire straits. This seems to be more commonly triggered in those with combat training or magic aptitude than it is in the general public. In Seifer's case he uses a series of abilities referred to as Fire Cross. It is important to note that while fire appears during these instances of Limit Breaks, the fire is more of a manifestation of pure energy as related to him and thus do not actually create lingering burns and cannot start fires. For the purposes of PixieLed, Seifer will only have access to his No Mercy limit. This one manifests as him casting a spell that looks like fire on his enemies before starting to spin his Gunblade in one hand. During this spinning he channels energy into the blade before finally launching it off as a series of circular blades of energy at his target. The strength of the attack depends very heavily upon his current strength at the time.
Guardian Force Junctioning: As a trained mercenary cadet from Balamb Garden, Seifer has previously been taught to use the power of Guardian Forces. Guardian Forces (also know as GFs) are spirits from his world with their own personalities and elemental affinities that specially trained individuals can use by 'junctioning' them, that is giving them a place in their minds in exchange for power. This power comes with some positives (Summoning, Paramagic, Junctioning of Abilities and Magic, and Additional Skills) that can be seen as granting superhuman abilities. These are what make Garden Cadets, and more importantly the elite SeeD mercenaries, such desirable forces to hire. However extended connection to GFs and use of their powers comes at the cost of long term memory loss. To facilitate a place for themselves in the heads of those that use GFs, they will slowly over time wear down at the oldest memories an individual has. The damage is not complete, and some memories can be recovered with interactions with others who remember the circumstances, but they will never be clear. Many SeeDs and even lesser users have difficulties remembering things a decade or longer ago. Seifer's use of these forces as a Garden Cadet has left many holes in his memories of his youth, even his start in Garden. This does not take away skills, just memories.
All following information relates to the positives of having a Guardian Force in general. At this time Seifer lacks any GFs due to lore reasons, and while he has some magic reserves, he cannot access them. This might change if another character from his universe arrives and deigns to lend him one they have with them, or in an unforeseen future where a power regain is possible. I'm just covering bases here. In theory, Seifer would be capable of teaching another to make use of any or all of these abilities should a GF be acquired.Paramagic: The first and most obvious benefit to outsiders of GF use is access to a form of spell casting known as paramagic. GFs grant their users the ability to 'draw' from natural sources (monsters, people, natural fonts, and even some items) which users may store, use for Stat Junctioning (see below), or casting magic. These can be support spells, healing spells, and attack magic. Seifer was a specialist with elemental attack magic with an emphasis on fire spells. In fact, he's a natural drag font of fire magics (though one cannot draw from themselves). At this time he still retains a healthy stock of 100 fire spells, 42 fira spells, and 18 firaga spells. He also has a supply of 25 Cures and 13 Curas. However, lacking a GF, Seifer cannot make use of this magic. In theory he could transfer the spells to someone else adept with paramagic if they were present. He also serves as a natural font of Aura magic, which grants people accelerated access to Limit Breaks or other high energy attacks, but he cannot access this himself. Summoning: The flashiest benefit to a GF is the ability to call them forth as a summon. This temporarily grants the GF a physical form, drawn from the energy of the caster. When the GF manifests it performs a signature move, which can be attacking (such as a massive fireball), defensive (such as putting up spell reflection), or more status focused (such as blinding, poisoning, confusing/etc an enemy). What the Summon does is dependent upon the specific GF. How fast a GF comes to the call of their summoner depends on how strong the bond between them is and something called affinity, which Seifer does not have much of for any GF. Ability Junctioning: The least obvious perk of working with a GF. Junctioning a GF gives access to the inherent abilities of drawing magic (or other GFs) from sources, casting magic, and summoning. They all also have unique abilities. This could include things like turning items with a slight magic spark in them into stocked paramagic spells (called Refinements), strengthening the effectiveness of curative items, turning one item into another (like turning monster parts into specialized ammo or poisons into potions), or even just somehow working their magic on merchants to give better deals. GFs also have abilities that boost the skills of their users, making them faster, stronger, or more magically adept (this is on top of Stat Junctioning below). They can grant users the ability to enhance senses (like finding hidden drawpoints, making them impossible to attack from behind, or helping them find rare items). They can inherently cast defensive magics as soon as combat is joined. Or they can even give special abilities to their users based on very specific skills of the GFs themselves. As Seifer has no GF at this time, I will not list them further but more information is available here and Here I'm sorry, FF characters are complicated messesStat Junctioning: Finally and in truth the most important part of a connection to a GF: Stat Junctioning. This is what truly helps a GF user become superhuman. GFs enable their users to junction (meaning link here) their magical reserves to combat attributes of HP (health), Strength, Vitality (physical defense), Magic (strength of spells cast), Spirit (defense against magic spells cast against them), Speed, Hit Rate (accuracy of attacks), Evade (ability to dodge attacks), and Luck (also affects evasion and hit rates, as well as ability to land extra strong 'critical' attacks). Different spells (and the quantity of them) have different effects on what they are junctioned to. Basically the short version is this is sort of like a magical version of performance enhancing technology or drugs. Think your Super Soldier Serum that someone can pick up and put down at will. Thankfully GFs that can junction multiple stats at once are not common, forcing top operatives to use multiple (thus multiplying the negative effect) to create heavy enhancements. At this time, Seifer cannot perform any stat-junctions. It is also important to note that some GFs also allow for junctioning spells to weapons as offensive or defensive blocks, or even status magic, enabling weapons to inflict things like poison, sleepiness, or even temporarily blindness.
🦋 Personality
Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.
- What song would a siren sing to your character to lure them closer? Why?
- If you'd like pixies to change one event in your character's life, what would it be and why?
- What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?
- Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?
The world is full of tales of great and valiant knights. Men and women who take up their weapon for an honorable and just cause. Who serve with the name of their lady or lord upon their lips while they right great wrongs, defend the weak, serve the good of the realm. These tales and songs speak of great deeds done, and noble endings reached. Perhaps in battle, perhaps of old age, but always after making a mark on history, after doing good, after being recognizable.
This is the form of song that would most captivate Seifer. He has spent many years of his life captivated by a single dream, one he calls his ‘romantic dream’. He means this not in a sense of a relationship, but in the sense of romanticism. Emotion, individualism, and glorification of a past of great deeds and noble heroes drive Seifer on a deep level. His passion for his own goal in this vein makes him seek his own story of success and fame and doing something noble and right. Any song that might seem a hint to set him upon this path, that would make him feel special and notable and worth recognizing would be the best lure someone could set.
Perhaps it’s just part of being an orphan really. All he had growing up was these sorts of stories where men and women, sometimes of ignoble background, finally get appreciated and praised and loved for their successes, no matter what they came from before.
The day at the television station. Infuriated that the Headmaster of Balamb Garden sent a small team of freshly made SeeDs on a dangerous job, he decided to take matters into his own hands. It was his own fault, after all, that the mission potential even got to Cid’s hands. Seifer caused the contract holder, Rinoa Heartilly (his ex-girlfriend) to petition for SeeD to help her free Timber from its annexation by Galbadia. And she wanted to do this by kidnapping thedictatorPresident. The highly protected President. And she was terrible at making plans.
Seifer may be driven by a desire for success and a refusal to live his life accepting he might be a failure (in his eyes or others), decided to step up. He went to Galbadia himself to try and take down the President. No reason not to go out with a bang, right? He’d be doing the right thing and he’d be legendary. Except Garden sent someone after him. Which called the SeeDs to the television station. And one of the idiots basically announced to the world it was a SeeD contract meaning there would be retaliation.
That alone would be enough to make the day totally worth changing. But from there it only got worse. Seifer had the president captive, was dragging him out of the room, then it happened. Reality distorting around him and that powerful hand of a sorceress from across space and time reaching out for him. The sort of bond he always wanted to forge out of loyalty and true belief was inflicted upon him, making him a puppet. He was taken away to be the Sorceress’s Knight, to a woman who was once his mother figure being puppeted by a witch from the future. The people he cared about most thought he was dead and then got to see him as a cruel military leader.
His life, basically, became forfeit, and his dreams corrupted. What should have been his greatest glory became his downfall, became what his life would always be defined by. He wishes he hadn’t gone there that day. He wishes the camera had been disconnected. He wishes he never backed into that room more or less alone. He wishes he could have said no.
If that one thing could change maybe he could be worth something. Maybe he could do some good.
Passion. Unflinching passion about those things that Seifer strides toward or holds dear is the greatest core of Seifer’s personality. Due to being an orphan thrown into a mercenary academy Seifer’s been in a hard position most of his life. The best way for him to swim rather than sink in the unclear waters of his life was to throw himself into everything he does with fire and a firm belief in what he’s choosing. He throws himself fully into the things that he believes are worth this time. This is seen in his mastery of a complex and rare weapon form, in his competence with magic, in earning a place in the SeeD exams multiple times, and even in his fire to demand that people see his point in things. In fact, a lot of his bristling against authority in his world is because he cannot stand to see his beliefs trampled upon so he fights for them. He doesn’t want to stand back when danger is before him, he wants to cut it off and pave the way to his success through proactive action.
In Seifer’s world all people have magic inherent to them that can be drawn forth through the power of GFs, and in those of strong will that magic can even be telling about who they are. One of the few consistent things we see throughout the game when fighting against Seifer is that he always has fire magic on him. All of his special attacks also make use of fire, and he’s always casting it himself. But he’s also known to be the only living source of Aura magic. This magic is unique in that it boosts people to the level where they can use their unique limit abilities and raise crit rates. It goes along with the feeling of a man always driven to his do his best because his passionate heart will never allow him anything less.
It is that passion that drives him to the dream of serving as the faithful protector and strong right arm of a Sorceress one day, to better serve and protect the world. This dream ends up being corrupted unfortunately, turning him into a violent villain driven only by his passion to burn the world so that his sorceress might reap the benefits of her rule. His own fire burns him in the end.
Honestly, Seifer first feels an immense sense of relief. To the best of his knowledge at his current point in time, Seifer is a seriously wanted man. He was manipulated into serving a world conquering/destroying Sorceress (he would claim it was his own choice). There is every reason for multiple countries in his world to want his head. Somewhere in the future, though, he might be able to make a life. His resemblance to an infamous Sorceress Knight would be incidental, right down to his scar. He could maybe make a life that would be better for himself, somewhere that he could live his ideal dream, after finding a new one that is.
At the same time, though he would not admit it out loud, the gap in time would hurt him. There were two people in the whole world that stuck with him no matter what happened, who believed in him and tried to give him a chance to break free and come back to himself. With that much difference in time they would be completely lost to him. While he would argue that it was for the best, that it was good for them to be free of him, they were the only people to really believe in him and stand by him. The people who cared. That would be a once in a life time thing he could never get back in his mind, and would never be worthy of.
